GA ACC Holds CVTeam Conference

The Georgia Chapter of the American College of Cardiology held its second Cardiovascular Update Conference designed specifically for its Cardiovascular Team professionals including registered nurses, nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, physician assistants, and clinical pharmacists. This meeting reflected our dedication to reducing cardiovascular risk and improving patient outcomes by providing the attendees with evidence-based, relevant information regarding the evaluation and treatment of cardiovascular disease in the clinical setting.

The meeting was held May 31st, 2019 at Piedmont Athens Regional, and included physician experts in their respective fields from Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Piedmont Heart Institute in Athens, and Piedmont Heart Institute- Samsky Heart in Atlanta. Dr. Jeff Marshall, Governor of the GA Chapter of the ACC, provided the opening remarks while Kathi Davis, CV Team Liaison for the GA ACC, served as the host for the event. The agenda provided the latest research and clinical guideline updates in the topics entitled: “Cardiac Amyloidosis,” “Cardiogenic Shock,” “Prevention of Heart Disease and Stroke in Women,” “Antiplatelet Therapy After Percutaneous Coronary Intervention,” “What Every Provider Needs to Know About Preventive Cardiology,” “What Do Your ECHO Results Really Mean?,” “Vascular FAQ’s” and “Updated Hypertension Guidelines.”  Special thanks to Amgen, Bristol Myers Squibb, Lantheus Medical Imaging, Zywie Healthcare, Astrazeneca, Novartis, Chiesi, Janssen and Akcea for sponsoring and the physicians who gave their time to support this event.
